What a perceptive metaphor. In a sense, then, the events we experience die, inside us almost immediately, and our memories of them become the spectres that haunt us both pleasantly and unpleasantly. I believe that the peole outside of our circle of love we exorcise or form no lasting memory of them. Indifference casts out all love.
