“Sanctuary” is my first published collection of poetry. It was published by Finishing Line Press in November 2008. Three writers, friends of mine, have written kindly in support of the work:
“Before her poems retreat into a “a sanctuary of silence,” Jane Beal sifts through a rich, lovely, noisy world of images and people. But hers is a pointed sifting, a yearning to see this world in relation to the next, a longing for intimacy with the Divine.” –David Wright, author of A Liturgy for Stones
“Sanctuary ushers readers into sacred spaces: a childhood sanctuary of camilla trees, a sanctuary with “colored shadows” of the saints. Beal’s piercing attention, witness, and reverence connects us with the world in all of its beauty, terror, and mystery. It ushers us into a place of worship.” –Nicole Mazzarella, award-winning author of This Heavy Silence
“Jane Beal is a remarkable poet, deftly recording humankind’s quest to commune with the Divine. The reader will find ‘Sanctuary’ in these pages.” Leah Maines, author of Beyond the River
